American Dream

American Dream

American Dream

The notion of American dream appeared during the colonial era. At this period a lot of immigrants are attracted by New England which is empty at the time, they flee their country to succeed in North America. Indeed the American Dream is defined by the fact that it's a nation of prosperity, freedom, where there are job opportunities therefore immigrants can climb up the social rank. It's quiet easy to understand those people who left everything to go to America, they hadn't no job and no land anymore. If we believe in the American Dream their choice wasn't very hard although they flee their foreign country and they were faithful to their roots what should be the most difficult for them.

However is the American Dream a reality or a myth ? To my mind it can depends on the persons. If we take the exemple of an occidental immigrant with degrees who wants to live in USA because of the American Dream, it's possible but not certain for him that he will know the American Dream. Nevertheless if he is very involved in what he does, in his job or whatever he has a chance to believe in the American Dream but if we take another case which is the one who illegaly crossed the border between Mexico and United States I can't believe the fact that he will achieve at all.

There are millions of Hispanics in USA who aren't integrate, the American Dream isn't a reality for them, the only jobs they can achieve in America are illegal work because a majority of people who crossed the border are undocummented. Illegal work is more slavery than a work. There are very much people who can't succeed in USA that's why I think that the American Dream is more a myth than a reality nowadays.
