Western

Western

All people know about western it's thanks to the western movies. The vision people have of it are the Clint Eastwood or John Wayne movies for exemple. However do western movies represente the reality ?

It would seem as an idealistic vision because first of all the number of cowboy would be lower than the movies would suggest. There is also the fact that cowboy wasn't an easy job because of the fact that a cowboy have to take care of his cattle while on the other side, the movie would show us a vision of it which is resting and with many leisures like poker in saloon...

Conquest of the West in western movies have a idealistic vision like I said it before, if you ask somebody about what he could tell you as for western he will answer things like rich and old cowboys, saloon, indians ( as bad ones ), outlaws, gold prospectors, sheriff,...

Nevertheless, Western isn't' like we think about it throughout movies. The reality was totally different, the West was not violent as it is in movies, furthemore, the historia tells us that one out three cowboy was an american african cowboy while in films there aren't a lot of black cowboys. There were also native americans just like indians who were cowboys, Although we could imagine that every cowboy use to robbed banks it's false in spite of what the movies show us. Moreover the first cowboy weren't americans, they were mexicans called vaqueros which means cowboy in spanish, contrary to what to majority could guess, cowboy were not americans at the dawn of the 19th century.

From now on, we can say for sure that western movies don't represente the reality however they still are good movies
